Fossil Hunting on the Jurassic Coast
160 million years ago there was a muddy swamp.
Dinosaurs and other reptiles ruled. Mammals were small and very
frightened.
Sometimes a dinosaur would get trapped in the mud and drown. Is that one in the picture?
Over 160 million years the pressure of vegetation and soil on top of the mud turned it to rock with the dinosaur encased inside. These rocks we now know as the Jurassic coast and are to be found near West Bay.
Some of the most complete dinosaur skeletons in the world have come from here.
There is a museum in Lyme Regis.
Make a name for yourself; find an Ithinkhesaurus Rex and it's blind cousin Idonthinkhesaurus Rex.
